Dr. Iva Greenwald Awarded the Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences

Congratulations to Dr. Iva Greenwald who has been awarded the 23rd annual Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences. She was honored for discovering the genes and novel biochemical mechanism of Notch signaling, which controls myriad cell fate decisions in metazoans.

The annual Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences was first awarded in 2002, and recognizes "contributions that have opened new fields of research or have advanced concepts in a particular biomedical discipline." Thirteen past recipients have gone on to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine and five past recipients have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Iva Greenwald is the Da Costa Professor of Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences and Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Columbia University.
