Lars Dietrich has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology as part of the Class of 2026. The Academy is an honorific leadership group and scientific think tank within the American Society for Microbiology. Fellows are selected through a highly competitive, peer-reviewed process recognizing scientific achievement and original contributions that advance microbiology. This year, 63 fellows were chosen from 145 nominations submitted worldwide, representing 14 countries. Dietrich joins a distinguished community of more than 2,700 scientists elected to the Academy over the past 50 years.
