Abstract: Dr. Bohórquez is a visionary neuroscientist at Duke University who has significantly advanced our understanding of the gut-brain connection. Leading the Laboratory of Gut-Brain Neurobiology, he and his team spearheaded the groundbreaking discovery of two new senses in the gut: one for nutrients and another for microbes, revealing how these signals influence appetitive decisions. This pioneering work lays the foundation for "healing the brain from the gut." Beyond his research, Dr. Bohórquez founded Gastronauts, a global platform dedicated to advancing the emerging field of gut-brain sensory neurobiology and fostering the next generation of scientific leaders. He continues to explore new frontiers in gut-brain research with the goal of developing innovative therapies to improve human health.
