Biography

A Westchester, New York native, I attended Binghamton University as an undergraduate. At Binghamton University I completed my bachelor’s degree majoring in Biological Sciences. My undergraduate work included studying protein interactions in a bacterium named Pseudomonas aeruginosa. My lab examined a novel interaction between two proteins that regulate biofilm formation, antibiotic tolerance, and flagella biosynthesis. As part of my honors thesis, I tested inhibitor peptides for the aforementioned interaction to prevent biofilm formation and minimize antibiotic tolerance.

During my time at Columbia University, I hope to enhance increase my knowledge about microorganisms so that I can gain a better understanding about the connection between cellular phenotypes and environmental cues, and how cells interact to accomplish a task.
