Full Research Description
Born in the Philippines and raised in Toronto, I completed my undergrad at the University of Toronto in 2021, where I double majored in molecular biology and psychology. Post-graduation, I worked as a research assistant in the lab of Dr. John Calarco, where I assisted in creating an atlas of RNA-binding protein expression in the C. elegans nervous system. By understanding how these proteins are distributed within specific neuronal subtypes, we hoped to gain insight into the regulation of RNA metabolism during development. At Columbia, I hope to continue pursuing questions related to the developmental regulation of the nervous system, and one day delving into their applications in the context of neurodegenerative therapeutics.
Outside of research, I enjoy reading, hiking, and visiting art museums.
