Born and raised in Missouri, I just finished my B.A. in Oxbridge Molecular Biology at William Jewell College in Kansas City, Missouri. While there, I worked under the guidance of Dr. Bhupinder Vohra to characterized the mechanisms of enteric neuron degeneration in a Parkinson’s Disease model using a primary enteric neural crest stem cell culture. We successfully discovered a novel pathway of degeneration in this enteric neuron model, which is currently being drafted for publication.
As an undergraduate at Jewell, I spent a year completing studies at the University of Oxford, where I worked under Professors Stuart Ferguson and Anthony Hodgkins in a Biochemistry/Genetics lab setting to help develop a novel liquid culture method for C. elegans. I also spent time working under Dr. Ed Munro in a Developmental Biology lab at the University of Chicago to determine the regulatory effects of PAR-3 on the cortical actin network.
My main interests lie in the fields of Neurobiology and Developmental Biology, while my interests outside of the lab include music, theater, photography, and hiking/traveling.
