Short Research Description:

Previous Institution: University of California, San Diego

Full Research Description:

My name is Shan Lu and I am from Shenyang, China. I graduated from University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Physiology & Neuroscience and a B.A. in Psychology. I have been working in Dr. Takaki Komiyama's Lab for two years during my undergrad. I was training mice to do behavioral task and studying the projection neurons from posterior parietal cortex to caudoputamen. I am familiar with craniotomy with mice, stereotactic deep brain injection, vascular perfusion and histology of mouse brain.

For my PhD, I want to continue my study in neuroscience or try a different field. I can continue studying neural circuits and neurons at cellular or molecular level. Or I can try some different fields for example cancer biology or genetics. I love studying the brain and I am always curious about it. But I don't want to constrain myself to neuroscience. I will figure out my real interest after my rotation.
