The Biosafety team uses this opportunity to draw your attention to the important issue of regulatory compliance and a change in Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) review procedures:
Ensuring that all research with recombinant DNA and all research with infectious agents (including viral vectors) is reviewed by the IBC.
This includes all in vitro experiments (as well as in vivo experiments in animals or human subjects). A Rascal hazardous materials appendix is used to submit IBC registrations. A streamlined hazmat module (available in Jan. 2019) will enable submission of a single appendix for all biological materials. Small labs may submit a single registration that is good for three years.
Biosafety Officers are available to answer any questions about regulatory compliance firstname.lastname@example.org. We appreciate your compliance with these important regulations.
