Title: Effects of mutation and selection on gene expression
Abstract: Molecular mechanisms regulating gene expression play critical roles in development, physiology, and evolution. In this seminar, I will discuss how cis- and trans-acting factors controlling transcription vary within and between species and how new mutations affect these regulatory mechanisms. The impact of selection on this regulatory variation will also be discussed.
