My name is Rahul Dutta and I am from San Diego, California. I grew up in inland North County San Diego before moving all of 15 minutes to the beautiful coastal town of La Jolla where I pursued a BS and MS at the University of California, San Diego. Outside of academia, my hobbies and interests include surfing, tennis, travelling, and trying new cuisines.
During my time at UCSD I conducted research at The Scripps Research Institute, where my studies were focused on the effects of various psychostimulants on neurogenesis in the hippocampus of young adult non-human primates. After the completion of my master’s thesis project, I was fortunate enough to be employed by TSRI where I helped my lab with tissue processing, microscopy, and data analysis.
Currently, my research interests lie in evolutionary biology, biostatistics and bioinformatics. I hope to further my education of computational approaches to analysis of large data sets in the context of answering complex biological questions.
