Title: "New uses for old theory: using population genetics approaches to understand cancer heterogeneity”
Abstract: I will describe how mathematical and statistical methods developed to understand the behavior of gene frequencies in populations can be exploited to study aspects of cancer evolution, particularly tumor heterogeneity. I will give some examples to illustrate the theme. I will also describe a novel approach to collecting “3.5D” information about tumors at a scale that will revolutionize how we study tumors, and will need new mathematical and statistical methods to interpret.
