This course provides an introduction to classical and molecular genetics to first year graduate students. Topics include transmission genetics, gain and loss of function mutations, genetic redundancy, suppressors, enhancers, epistasis, expression patterns, using transposons, and introduction to genome analysis. As part of the Core Program in the Department of Biological Sciences, the course is a mixture of lectures, student presentations, and readings from the original literature. Ph.D. students from other departments can take this course with the instructor's permission.
